Rajasthan focuses on higher mining revenue targets in financial year-end

Having collected a record revenue worth ₹7,451.63 crore during the current financial year, the Rajasthan government’s Mining Department has focused on achieving higher revenue targets in the year-end. The department has formulated a strategy to maximise revenue collection from the mines.

Principal Secretary (Mines) T. Ravikanth said here on Saturday that the department had registered a 9% growth in revenue collection as compared to the same period last year. Mr. Ravikanth instructed the officials at a high-level meeting to give priority to revenue recovery along with other departmental tasks.

While referring to the revenue collection strategy, Mr. Ravikanth said action would be launched against illegal mining activities, as well as for the recovery of penalty amount, on the basis of reports prepared by the officials. “An effective monitoring of royalty collection on contracts, auctioning of the remaining contracts, and regular review by finance officers will ensure higher revenue collections,” he said.

Mr. Ravikanth said proper coordination with the offices showing shortfall in revenue collections and speeding up the recovery of old arrears would also serve the purpose. Though revenue collection was higher than the last year, efforts should be made to collect revenue from all possible sources, he added.

Director of Mines Mahaveer Prasad Meena said a revenue collection of ₹7,451.63 crore had been reported till January 21, which had recorded an increase of ₹627 crore over the amount of ₹6,824.54 crore collected in the same period during the financial year 2024-25.
