Advocates V.R. Kamalanathan and J. Pothiraj have been elected as the president and secretary of the Madras Bar Association (MBA) established in 1865, three years after the establishment of the Madras High Court in 1862, through the issuance of a Royal Charter.

Acccording to a press communique issued by Senior Advocate K.K. Senthilvelan who had been appointed as the election officer, advocates V.T. Balaji and D. Raja had been elected as the treasurer and librarian respectively of the MBA.

Advocates Muziz Ali, Y. Kavitha, G. Arulselvi, P. Elayarajkumar and V. Vasanthakumar have also been elected as the executive committee members of the association. The newly-elected office-bearers met Madras High Court Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava who wished them well.
