The Tamil Nadu Police Department and the Vellore District Volleyball Association jointly organised a two-day floodlight volleyball tournament for men and women at the Vellore Police Training Ground near the fort complex in Vellore.

According to a press release, the tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 13 teams competing in the men’s category and eight teams in the women’s category. The tournament was inaugurated by G. Dharmarajan, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Vellore range in the presence of the Superintendent of Police (SP) A. Mayilvaganan, and G.V. Selvam, vice-president, VIT.

In the men’s category, Vellore Perumugai team emerged as champions and Panimalar team from Chennai secured runner-up. In the women’s category, the Sivanthi Club and St. Joseph team from Chennai won first and second place respectively.

Trophies and cash prizes were presented to the winning teams by Mr. Selvam and Mr. Mayilvaganan, the release said.
