Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday (January 20, 2026) announced that all pending applications for official measurement of land will be cleared by January 31, 2026, through a special drive to reduce delays, improve transparency and curb land-related disputes.

The decision was taken under the seven resolves -3 (2025-30), namely ‘Sabka Samman – Jeevan Aasaan’ (Ease of Living), aimed to reduce the difficulties faced by all citizens of the State in their daily lives and to make their lives even easier.
Writing a post on social media platform X, Mr. Kumar highlighted that it has often been observed that after people who wish to get their land measured in the State submit their application, the land measurement process takes a very long time to complete, because of this, people have to face difficulties.
“Due to the delay in timely measurement of land, unnecessary land disputes arise. In order to achieve the goal, decisions have been taken to make the land measurement process simpler, more transparent, time-bound and citizen-friendly,”Mr. Kumar said in the post.

He further said, “All pending applications for land measurement will be disposed of by January 31, through a special land measurement campaign. From April 1, 2026, measurement of undisputed land will be ensured within a maximum of 7 working days from the date the applicant deposits the measurement fee and for disputed land, it will be done within 11 working days.”
Mr. Kumar added, “After completing the measurement process of both undisputed and disputed land within the stipulated working days, it will be mandatory for the Amin (land surveyor) to upload the measurement report on the designated portal by the 14th day from the date of the applicant’s application.”
In order to ensure land measurement within the prescribed time limit, he directed the Revenue and Land Reforms Department to make necessary arrangements for adequate manpower and resources, along with ensuring intensive monitoring of the entire process.
“I am fully confident that this initiative to simplify the land measurement process will prove to be very useful for all the residents of the State and will make their daily lives even easier,”Mr. Kumar adding that if any one wishes to give any suggestion they are most welcome.
Also the Bihar Government is planning to bring a new policy according to which the government doctors would not be able to run their private clinics and they would be barred from doing private practice.
Few days back, Mr. Kumar had made the announcement during his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra in Bettiah asserting that the move will ensure that government doctors are available in the hospital so that patients can get the timely treatment.
The move is part of the seven resolves -3 and soon the government will bring the policy in the cabinet to get it passed.
