The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Monday executed a swift medical evacuation of a 63-year-old female patient from Agatti island, saving her life following a cardiac arrest, the ICG said in a statement.
The patient was flown to Kochi in an ICG Dornier aircraft by retrofitting it into a mobile intensive care unit (MICU). The ICG crew were airborne by 11 a.m. from Kochi, and they landed on Agatti island to facilitate the evacuation. They swiftly embarked the patient and landed in Kochi airport at 2.20 p.m. The patient was shifted to a private hospital for advanced medical care.
