M. Veerapandian has been elected the secretary of the Communist Party of India’s (CPI) Tamil Nadu State unit. He was the deputy secretary of the party and worked in the All India Youth Federation (AIYF), the party’s youth wing.

The State conference held in Salem last month could not select a new secretary due to a lack of consensus. The State committee meeting held on Saturday (September 13, 2025) elected him. He has replaced R. Mutharasan.
