Shivamogga police and the Fire and Emergency Services staff are engaged in searching for four persons who were reported missing near the Bhadra Right Bank Canal at Kudligere, near Holehonnur in Bhadravati taluk of Shivamogga district in Karnataka, on January 18.
Neelabai, 50, her son Ravikumar, 23, daughter Swetha, 24 and son-in-law Parashuram, residents of Arebilachi village, were last seen near the canal on January 18 afternoon. They had gone to the canal to wash clothes, according to their relatives.
Later, they were reported missing while the clothes they took from home were found at the canal.
They had left home on two bikes, which were parked near the canal.
Suspecting that the four persons may have drowned in the canal, the local people informed the police.
Shivamogga Additional Superintendent of Police A.G. Cariappa and Holehonnur Police Inspector Shivaprasad were among thosa who visited the spot. They called in the Fire and Emergency Services for the search operation, which was halted overnight before resuming on January 19.
