A.M. Sivadas, 85, former district judge, Law Secretary and Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) member, passed away at his house here on Sunday evening. He had been battling cancer for the past few months.
A lawyer from Palakkad, Mr. Sivadas joined the judicial service in 1972 as a Munsiff at Chavakkad. Over his distinguished career, he served as principal district and sessions judge in Kasaragod, CBI judge in Ernakulam, and Essential Commodities (EC) judge in Thrissur. He delivered verdicts in several high-profile cases, including the Cheemeni murder case.
He is survived by wife Savithri Sivadas, son Sujit Menon (U.S.) and daughter-in-law Sujata Menon.
His last rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Chandranagar electric crematorium here.
