In an initiative rarely witnessed in any State-run university, the alumni of Kousali Institute of Management Studies (KIMS) of Karnatak University, Dharwad have contributed over ₹2 crore for developing their alma mater.

The alumni have not only contributed generously, but were also actively involved in executing and monitoring the KIMS development projects through Kousali Alumini Network (KAN), thus reflecting their strong commitment towards the progress of the institute.

The alumni, KIMS and Karnatak University celebrated 50 years of establishment of KIMS through ‘Darpan’, an alumni meet and international seminar, in association with Cardiff University United Kingdom, which began on January 10 and concluded on January 12. Over 300 students from across the globe, representing all 50 batches of KIMS, took part in the memorable event.

During the inauguration, Madan Pillutla, Dean of Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad and the chief guest, highlighted the pivotal role of alumni in institutional development.

Delivering the keynote address, Sriram Beldona, Strategic Advisor, Stonehill College, USA presented strategic perspectives and future-oriented ideas that could guide KIMS in its academic and institutional journey from 2026 to 2050.

KIMS Director Uttam Kinange, KAN President Naresh Shah, KAN Project Head Sanjeev Ganate and several eminent alumni, including Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad V.C. Sajjanar, and several former vice-chancellors and directors of KIMS attended the event

Seminar on emerging paradigms in business ecosystem

During the two-day day International Seminar on ‘Emerging Paradigms in the Business Ecosystem’, several resource persons, including some alumni, spoke on various emerging issues in the field of business management. Eight panel discussions, featuring five international resource persons, covering contemporary topics, provided participants with valuable global perspectives on evolving business models, digital transformation, sustainability, and strategic management in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment.

The valedictory function concluded on January 12 with reflections on the deliberations held during the seminar.
