BJP demands impartial investigation into recent temple attacks in Hyderabad

The BJP has demanded the Congress government to take stern action against those involved in the vandalism of temples and conduct an impartial investigation into the recent attacks.

BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleged that incidents of attacks on temples have increased after the Congress came to power. He said miscreants desecrated a temple in Puranapul just three days after the attack on the Katta Maisamma temple in Safilguda, Malkajgiri — a development he termed “highly condemnable.”

Mr. Rao said these incidents form part of a “disturbing and recurring pattern” of temple desecrations in Telangana, claiming that the majority community is feeling insecure following repeated attacks. He held Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy “personally responsible,” accusing him of indulging in vote-bank and appeasement politics, which he said was evident during the Jubilee Hills bypoll.

Later, Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind echoed the same concern at a press conference, alleging a conspiracy to force the majority community to move out of the Old City. The MP also reiterated his demand to rename Nizamabad district as ‘Indur,’ claiming the original name was altered during British rule at the behest of the then Nizam of Hyderabad. He further stated that the BJP is ready to give tickets to minority candidates in the upcoming local body polls if they choose to support the party. The Modi government, he added, has not discriminated in welfare and development schemes based on caste, creed, or religion.

The party president along with the MP and other leaders including general secretary N. Gautam Rao celebrated the BJP win in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls by bursting crackers and distributing sweets at the state office. Mr. Rao felt that the decisive victory is a precursor to the party’s performance in the forthcoming GHMC polls.
