The Bharatiya Janata Party has set in motion the process of formalising the election of its national working president, Nitin Nabin, as the president of the party.

The election is likely to be held on January 20. All Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States as well as State unit presidents and national office-bearers, have been asked to be present in Delhi for the nomination, to be held on January 19 and for the formal election the next day.

Three sets of nominations will be filed nominating Mr. Nabin for the national president’s post. One set will have the signatures of more than 20 elected BJP State chiefs.

Another will have the signatures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and J.P. Nadda. The third will have the signatures of the members of the BJP National Council.
