The Malkajgiri police issued a traffic advisory in view of the International Kite and Sweet Festival, on till January 15, 2026, cautioning commuters about expected congestion, diversions and parking restrictions.

Traffic restrictions may be imposed between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on a need basis on the stretch connecting CTO X roads, Plaza X roads and Tivoli X roads. Commuters should be prepared for heavy congestion at key junctions, including CTO and Plaza junctions, Tivoli and Picket junctions, Secunderabad Club In-Gate and NCC, as well as Sweekar Upkar, YMCA and SBI junctions. Traffic is also expected to be slow-moving at Balamrai, Brookbond, Tadbund and Masthan Café.

In anticipation of the rush, citizens have been advised to avoid roads around the Parade Grounds and use alternative routes wherever possible. Passengers travelling to Secunderabad Railway Station and Jubilee Bus Station have been urged to start their journeys well in advance, with the police recommending the use of Metro Rail services to minimise delays.

The advisory also outlines parking arrangements to manage the expected influx of visitors. Parking inside the Parade Grounds has been earmarked for VVIPs and event organisers, while the general public has been directed to use designated parking facilities at the Gymkhana Exhibition Ground, Gymkhana Cricket Ground, Sports Authority of Telangana State premises and Dhobighat, depending on their direction of travel. Police said a shuttle service will operate from the Dhobighat parking area to Parade Grounds East Gate No. 11 to facilitate access for visitors.

For entry into the festival venue, the general public has been directed to use West Gate No. 1 and East Gate No. 11. Commuters relying on ride-hailing services such as Ola, Uber and Rapido have been requested to use designated pick-up and drop-off points at Paradise Metro Station, Tivoli junction, SBI junction or Sweekar Upakar junction, instead of approaching the venue directly.

The Malkajgiri traffic police have appealed to the public to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on duty and adhere to instructions issued at diversion points. Citizens have also been advised to follow the official social media handles of the traffic police for real-time updates or contact the emergency traffic helpline at 8712662999 for assistance.

The Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri Commissionerate, has requested print, electronic and FM media organisations to give wide publicity to the advisory in the interest of public safety.
