Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will launch the distribution of Pongal gift hampers to eligible rice ration cardholders and Sri Lankan Tamils living in camps across the State, from a Public Distribution System outlet at Alandur in Chennai on Thursday. According to a press release, the Pongal gift hampers include ₹3,000 in cash, one kg raw rice, one kg sugar and one sugar cane. These will be distributed to more than 2 crore rice ration cardholders across the State. Besides, the distribution of free dhoti and sari to ration cardholders will also begin on Thursday, the release added.
