Lalita Kala Academy organised Thyagaraja Aradhana by paying tributes to the statue of saint-composer Thyagaraja Swamy, in the premises of Sri Chennakesava Swamy temple at Kesava Swami Peta in Ongole on Wednesday.

Thyagaraja Aradhana is an annual music festival of music guru Thyagaraja, observed mostly in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, on his death anniversary.

Lalita Kala Academy president Santa Veluri Koteswara Rao said, “Musical kirtans were performed with instruments as a musical offering to Thyagaraja Swamy. Paripurna Siddhananda Swamy, head of Achalananda Swamy Ashram, was the chief guest on the occasion.”

He praised the talent and services of Thyagaraja Swamy, saying that his hymns on god have brought liberation to society through devotion. “Even today, millions of disciples continue to sing his hymns, breathing life into music,” he added.

Pathakmuri Sambaiah Nadaswara Instrumental Group and BC Welfare Sadhana Samiti State general secretary Madduluri Srinivasulu, Bommaraju Maruthi Bhaskara Sharma Nature Foundation president Darimadugu Rajasekhar, and several singers participated in the event.
