The SASTRA, deemed to be a university, in partnership with Greaves Cotton, has introduced a two-year full-time Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing for women as part of Greaves Cotton’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

According to a university release, the programme seeks to promote women’s skill development and employability by offering structured technical training to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The curriculum of the course will emphasise practical, application-oriented learning and cover contemporary areas, including automation, electronics manufacturing, robotics, CAD/CAM, and firmware development, designed to meet the evolving needs of the manufacturing sector.

The programme is offered entirely free of cost, with tuition fees, accommodation, and food provided to enrolled students.

In addition to academic instruction, internship and placement support will be extended to eligible candidates upon completion of the programme as part of the CSR initiative, according to the organisers. This initiative is intended to ensure equitable access to technical education and subsequent employment.

Women applicants aged 18–24, who have passed higher secondary examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics securing a minimum of 45% marks, and whose annual family income does not exceed ₹6 lakh, are eligible to pursue this diploma course.

Applications are open at https://apps.sastra.edu/mhcsrdp/ and further information is available at 80154 18718 or www.sastra.edu, the release added.
