Union Minister of Power & Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar appreciated the progress made by several States, particularly Andhra Pradesh (AP), in advancing renewable energy and Energy Efficiency (EE) initiatives.

In his message after receiving a report on the best practices and communication strategies in the area of energy efficiency adopted by various States, from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency Media Advisor (South India) and Mission LIFE Nodal Officer A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy in New Delhi on Sunday (January 4, 2026), Mr. Khattar said.

AP signed multiple MoUs with Central agencies such as the Energy Efficiency Services Limited for implementing EE programs under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The MoUs covered urban LED street lighting, strengthening of MSMEs, eco – friendly tourism, geothermal energy technologies capable of saving up to 70% power, distribution of energy-efficient induction stoves to Anganwadis, the Urjaveer campaign, and facilitating star – rated products for beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

These initiatives, he observed, reflect AP’s commitment to technology -driven sustainability.

On the occasion, Mr. Khattar emphasized the need for States to intensify climate mitigation efforts through coordinated action involving governments, industries, institutions, and citizens, stressing that climate action cannot succeed without mass public participation.
