The arrested were identified as S. Ayyappan, 24, K. Hari, 28, B. Harish Kumar, 24, G. Sanjay, 22, N. Rajsekar, 25, and C. Abilesh, 25.

Based on a tip-off to Ranipet Superintendent of Police Ayman Jamal, special teams were formed to conduct surprise checks in public places, such as bus termini and railway stations, and isolated buildings in the district. During a check near Arcot town, the team received an alert about suspicious persons loitering in an abandoned building in Ammur village for the past few days. The team rushed to the village.

The police said investigation found that the gang had placed an order for tablets with pharmacies in Mumbai. The tablets were sent by couriers to them.
