A student from Hyderabad who reportedly met with a road accident in Connecticut, USA, recently succumbed to his injuries.

According to Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjed Ullah Khan, who has been taking up cases of non-resident Indians in distressing conditions, the victim is 20-year-old Mohammed Zaid. He was admitted in in St. Vincent’s Medical Centre, Hartford Healthcare. The MBT leader has been in contact with Zaid’s family.

The victim was a student of University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mr. Khan said. The incident happened on September 7 when the youngster is said to have left his place of residence to buy groceries. He was allegedly hit by a speeding car and was left seriously injured.

The victim’s parents contacted Mr. Khan who wrote to Minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar, and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He sought their intervention in facilitating the visit of the victim’s parents to USA.

In his posts on X, he also tagged the Embassy of India in USA and the Consulate General. Mr. Khan said that the victim’s parents tried to fly to USA but failed on account of “unavoidable circumstances”. They have requested the Union government and Telangana Chief Minister to assist in bringing back the victim’s mortal remains to Hyderabad.
