Union Home Minister Amit Shah will take part in the conclusion of the State-wide yatra of the BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran in Pudukottai on January 4.

Mr. Nagenthran has embarked on a ‘Thamizhagam Thalai Nimira Thamizhanin Payanam’ across the State. Disclosing this to reporters here on Thursday, the BJP State general secretary Karuppu Muruganandham said the yatra had covered several districts in the State.

A grand arrangement is being made in Pudukottai in connection with the Home Minister’s participation in the programme.

Mr. Nagenthran said Mr. Shah would meet the members of the party’s high-level committee at a hotel in Tiruchi on January 4, toascertain the political situation in Tamil Nadu and offer his guidance.

Asked whether the leaders of the alliance partners would take part in the programme, he said AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami had planned a campaign in Salem on the same day (January 4), and that the Pudukottai programme would be a BJP-organised event.

Mr. Shah will also take part in Pongal celebrations to be organised by the party at the military ground in Tiruchi on January 5. Around 2,000 families would participate in the event, Mr. Muruganandham said.
