Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T. Harish Rao questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s accusations against former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Krishna water allocations, pointing out that he demanded redistribution of the full 811 TMCs soon after State formation and had consistently sought a larger share for Telangana.

In response to Mr. Reddy’s claims at the meeting of the MPs, MLAs and MLCs at Praja Bhavan, Mr. Rao alleged that the Chief Minister failed to distinguish between the Bachawat and Brijesh tribunals, indicating his lack of understanding on river basins.

He also accused the Congress government of concealing facts related to committees formed on Godavari issues and questioned the rationale behind approaching the Supreme Court while simultaneously holding meetings and constituting panels. He alleged that forming such committees amounts to opening the doors for Andhra Pradesh’s water diversion.

Rejecting the Chief Minister’s allegations, he said if the accusations were true, why did Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao write 28 letters seeking 50:50 water share till the Brajesh Tribunal gave its final order. He said Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao demanded 69% water share in Krishna, and when the Centre didn’t respond, he went to the Supreme Court. He asserted that Mr. Rao secured Krishna water redistribution under Section 3 after a prolonged legal and political struggle.

Mr. Harish Rao highlighted what he termed as contradictions in the government’s actions, citing the declaration of a crop holiday for 5.50 lakh acres under Jurala-dependent projects while supplying water to 2.80 lakh acres through Srisailam-based projects. “He said farmers under Jurala, Nettempadu, Bheema, and Koilsagar know the reality. If you burden Jurala with the Palamuru-Rangareddy project as well, no one will get water,” Mr. Rao warned.
