A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside a van in Haryana’s Faridabad after she was offered a lift by two men in the early hours of Tuesday.

The police have detained the two accused after the registration of the case.

The woman was allegedly thrown out of the moving vehicle after the assault on a deserted road three hours later and suffered injuries on her head and face. She is under treatment at a private hospital.

According to the police, the woman, a mother of three, was returning from her female friend’s home in Sector 23 around midnight on Monday when she took lift in the van.

“She was waiting for a transport near a Metro Chowk in Kalyanpuri area when the accused offered her lift.

The two drove towards Gurugram, parked the vehicles in the hills and raped her,” said Faridabad spokesperson Yashpal Singh.

The victim called her sister after she was dumped on the roadside and told her about her ordeal. She was then taken to a civil hospital and late referred to Delhi. But her family admitted her to a private hospital.

‘Unfit for statement’

Mr. Singh said the victim was declared unfit for statement. The case has been registered based on her sister’s complaint, he said.

The victim is separated from her husband and lives with her mother, officials said.
