Cybercrime cases recorded a decline in NTR District this year

Cybercrime cases in NTR Police Commissionerate limits have decreased in 2025 while other property offences, POCSO, crimes against women and road accidents also regitered a decline, Police Commissioner S. V. Rajasekhar Babu has said.

It was for the first time that the police used Face Recognition System (FRS) to identify the offenders and prevent crimes, drones and CCTVs were used to ensure strict surveillance. The commissionerate has launched e-Deployment of force, Astram app and other intiatives to check crimes, he said.

Addressing the year-ender press conference on Tuesday, the Police Commissioner said that there was a dip in the overall crime by 21.66%. Police registered 9,503 cases in 2025, as against 11,977 in 2024.

In all, 366 persons died this year in road accidents when compared to 454 in 2024, of which 107 were pedestrians, 209 were two-wheeler riders, 18 were in three-wheelers and 13 were travelling in four-wheelers.

“Many bike riders succumbed to head injuries in road accidents. We are sensitising the motorists on the need to use helmets,” Mr. Rajasekhar Babu said and appealed to the public to wear helmets and follow traffic rules.

There was a fall in property offences by 39.83%, crime against women by 15.11%, POCSO cases by 23.64%, road accidents by 23.69%, cybercrimes by 45.05%, robberies by 150%, house burglaries by night by 64.58% and ordinary thefts by 37.88%.

However, there was a rise in snatching cases by 5.17%, murder for gain by 33.33%, economic offences by 12.68%, narcotics ganja and other drug cases by 29.57%, the Police Commissioner said.

The percentage of detection and recovery in property offences was 80.70 this year, which was 51.78% in 2024. Regarding convictions in courts, 50% of the accused were convicted in 2025, as against 37% in the previous year.

The police successfully arranged bandobust during Dasara Navarathri and Bhavani Deeksha Viramana, he said.

The NTR Police cracked down on Maoists network and child trafficking linked to Mumbai, Delhi and Gujarat. Steps were being taken to prevent economic offences, road accidents and digital arrest cases, Mr. Rajasekhar Babu said.

Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPS), Additional DCPs, Assistant Commissioners of Police and other officers were present in the conference.
