The Kadapa district police focused on clearing pending cases and improving its citizen outreach programme in 2025.
As a result, the district ranked first twice (in two quarters) in the State in disposal of cases at the National Mega Lok Adalat. Also, 57,632 cases registered across various police station limits were settled through Lok Adalats. Similarly, 9,300 out of the 9,704 complaints received under the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) were resolved within stipulated timelines.
Addressing a year-end media conference to highlight the district’s performance in 2025, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke said murder cases decreased by 9 per cent, factional violence almost disappeared, riots decreased by 33 per cent and white collar crime dipped by 16 per cent.
Meanwhile, attempt to murder cases reduced by 9 per cent, cases under SC/ST atrocities declined by 9 per cent, while kidnapping of women fell by 33 per cent. Dowry deaths showed a 67 per cent fall, Mr. Nachiket explained.
Alarming cybercrimes
The major challenge in 2025 came in the form of 57 cybercrime cases, of which 33 were solved and 62 offenders arrested. Of the total ₹16.47 crore lost by the victims, only ₹21.52 lakh could be recovered and returned to the complainants. “Of the 4,693 transactions traced across 135 bank accounts, we got a freeze of ₹3.05 crore”, he added.
Mr. Nachiket also inspected the valuables recovered after the Yerraguntla police arrested the alleged bag lifting gang. The police recovered stolen property worth ₹75 lakh, including 507 grams of gold, 1.5 kg of silver, ₹61,000 in cash, a car worth ₹4 lakh, and arrested nine accused, eight of them belonging to the Godavari district, who were involved in 23 cases across the State.
