Quthbullapur MLA and BRS Whip K.P. Vivekanand on Sunday said the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was prepared to debate both the two-year rule of the Congress government and the 10-year tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in the Assembly. He said the party would question the government’s handling of the Palamuru–Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) and its alleged tendency to bypass the promised six guarantees.
Addressing a press conference at the Assembly, Mr. Vivekanand said that the main Opposition would strongly raise issues concerning what he termed the failures of the Congress government during the forthcoming Assembly session beginning on December 29.
The MLA said the BRS would also highlight issues related to the management of residential educational institutions, particularly the deaths of students in Gurukuls. He said the party strongly opposed the merger of 22 municipalities into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), alleging that the move was unscientific and carried out without public consultation.
He said the BRS would raise concerns over what he termed bogus bonuses announced for farmers and the government’s failure to address farmer suicides, which he attributed to a shortage of urea.
The BRS leader said the party would also hold the government accountable for the alleged misuse of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) funds for organising a football match involving international player Lionel Messi at Uppal stadium.
