Chamras Malipatil, honorary president of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, has urged the Union and State governments to release compensation to a woman, who is a farmer, whose amount was fraudulently transferred by unknown persons recently.

Addressing a press conference in Raichur on Saturday, Mr Malipatil said that Jyothi, a woman farmer of Machanur village in Manvi taluk, had deposited ₹6,70,222 on November 21 and then deposited ₹2,31,000 on November 26 in her bank account after selling a cotton crop.

When she checked her bank account on November 28, she found that ₹6,69,904 was fraudulently transferred by unknown persons in different accounts.

He further said that the victim approached the CEN Police Station in Raichur with a complaint for investigation into the incident. “The Union and State government should consider the incident on humanitarian grounds and release compensation to the woman farmer since the investigation is still not completed,” he urged. The victim, Jyothi, and others were present.

The CEN police registered a case under relevant sections of the IT Act and BNS Act. When contacted, Superintendent of Police Puttamadaiah told The Hindu that the Deputy Superintendent of Police has been entrusted with the investigation, which is going on.

“We need to go through bank documents and other details thoroughly. It will take some more time to complete the investigation of the case,” he added.
