Govind Balasubramanian, who appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT), the all-India entrance exam for admission into the Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) and other top B-schools, three times in a row to secure a seat in the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), has also become the Karnataka topper by scoring 100 percentile marks in CAT-2025.

Originally from Kerala and working as a data scientist at a private firm in Bengaluru, Mr. Balasubramanian had written CAT-2025 at the Bengaluru centre this time.

“My dream is to do Master of Business Administration (MBA) in IIMB. I had scored 100 percentile in the CAT-2022 earlier. But I did not get a seat in IIMB in the viva. So, last year I attempted the CAT-2024 and scored 99.97 percentile of marks. But last time also, I did not get a seat in IIMB either. So again, this year I have written the exam and scored 100 percentile, and I am looking forward to the viva. This time I will get admission even if I get a seat in IIMB or IIM Ahmedabad,” he said.

“I studied Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from BITS Pilani K.K. Birla Goa campus and graduated in 2023. Since childhood I have an interest in Maths and Logical questions. These sections in the CAT question paper helped me score 100 percentile,” he said.

Sharing his future dreams with The Hindu, Mr. Balasubramanian said, “After completion of my MBA, I would like to explore opportunities in product management and consulting. I also want to mentor students for CAT and GMAT exams. I have already started a community of students, where I will be trying to mentor them and my aim is to convert that into institution or online coaching,” he added.
