Two persons of an interstate gang involved in thefts on long-distance trains were arrested by the Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Secunderabad Railway Station on Thursday (December 25, 2025), leading to the recovery of gold ornaments weighing about 210 grams, valued at ₹25 lakh.

The arrested accused were identified as 39-year-old Kokila Maniraju alias Raju Selvam, a resident of Bengaluru, and 27-year-old S. Dina, from Vellore district in Tamil Nadu. The police said both were apprehended at around 8 a.m. near gate number 2 of the Station while loitering allegedly with the intention of committing thefts.

Investigations revealed that Kokila was a habitual offender who was previously been jailed in four property offence cases registered at various police stations in Hyderabad. Dina, who was struggling financially, is said to have approached Kokila about a month ago, after which they allegedly decided to commit thefts together.

On the night of December 2, the accused booked tickets in the AC coach of the Nanded Express, posing as passengers travelling from Visakhapatnam to Charlapalli. The Police said that while other passengers were asleep, the duo tactically opened the zips of bags belonging to two women passengers and stole purses containing gold jewellery. After the thefts, they moved to another coach and later got down at Charlapalli Station and managed to escape.

Cases have been registered under Section 305(c) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in connection with the two thefts. Further investigation is underway.
