JSS STU wins CII “Excellence for Women in STEM 2025” award

JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru has been conferred “CII Award on Excellence for Women in STEM 2025” for the second consecutive year, reaffirming the University’s efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The award was presented by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India during the Global Summit on Technology, R & D, and IP.

The award ceremony was held recently in New Delhi, bringing together industry leaders and experts committed to strengthening women’s participation and leadership in STEM.

Dr. Vanishri Arun and Dr. Sindu Bharath represented JSS STU and received the honour from dignitaries including Dr. Ashish Mohan, Executive Director, CII; Dr. Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Chair, CII Women in STEM initiatives and Co-founder, ReNew and Chairperson (Sustainability); Ms. Inge Buffolo, Director, European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO); and Dr. Chandrika Kaushik, Distinguished Scientist and Director General, Production Coordination and Services Interaction, DRDO, Government of India. JSS STU was recognised among the ‘Top 10’ institutions following a rigorous evaluation process, according to a press release.

“The recognition highlights JSS STU’s approach to enabling women in STEM spanning gender-equitable hiring, capacity building and professional development, leadership programmes, and workplace flexibility, aimed at ensuring women have the support and opportunities to excel, innovate and lead at every level,” the release added.

Congratulating the team, Dr. A. N. Santosh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. S. A. Dhanaraj, Registrar, appreciated the collective efforts led by Dr. N. Haraprasad, Dean-QAA, along with Dr. Pushpa Tuppad and Dr. Prajna S., and extended their wishes for continued progress in strengthening women’s representation and leadership in STEM.
