Actor-director Sreenivasan’s residence at Kandanad near Kochi saw a steady stream of visitors since Sunday (December 21, 2025) morning as members of the film fraternity and fans crowded together to pay their last respects to him. Personalities from the film industry and political circles, along with Sreenivasan’s contemporaries, stood firm with the family as they tried to grapple with the irreparable loss.

Early in the morning, actor Suriya arrived to pay his respects. “I have been a big fan of Sreenivasan sir and have closely followed his work. I heard the news while I was in Kochi, and it was deeply saddening. I wanted to come and see him. His writings and body of work will remain etched in everyone’s hearts. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.

Members of the film fraternity who visited included Parvathy Thiruvothu, Renji Panicker, Sathyan Anthikkad, Jagadish, and Prithviraj, among others. The overwhelming outpouring of grief was a testament to Sreenivasan’s stature. Through his sharp wit, humour, incisive political commentary, and unforgettable characters, he carved a unique niche for himself and left an indelible mark on the Malayalam film industry.

Actor Parvathy Thiruvothu said, “The loss is impossible to express in words. We start celebrating legends once they leave us. But we celebrate Sreeni sir every day. He was celebrated not just for his contributions and his cinema, but for the person that he is. I hope he rests in peace.”

Director Sathyan Anthikad, a contemporary of Sreenivasan, stood alongside the family, consoling them and assisting with the final rites. Sreenivasan had been ailing for the past several years.
