Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu sought Central assistance for the development of the Dugarajapatnam shipbuilding and repair cluster and the construction of fishing harbours in tune with Prime Minister’s chip-to-ship vision and in compliance with the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 during an interaction with Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi on Friday.

He said an agreement has been reached for providing 3,488 acres of land for the project and the techno-economic feasibility report (TEFR) has been prepared. Besides, the Chief Minister requested the allocation of additional funds for four fishing harbours (Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam and Uppada) undertaken in Phase-1 at a cost of nearly ₹1,362 crore, of which a sum of ₹591 crore is expected from the Centre.

Metro rail projects

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu later called on Union Minister for Power, and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar and asked him to approve the Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro rail projects while stating the revised DPRs have already been submitted.

Extends invitation

The Chief Minister also met Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, whom he invited for the foundation stone laying for the BPCL refinery project in Nellore district and sought his cooperation in attracting investments from natural gas and LNG companies. He sought expansion of gas pipelines and City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks across the State.
