North Zone DCP S. Rashmi Perumal along with officials from Karkhana and Bollarum police – with the seized jewellery, during a press conference, on Tuesday.

Three individuals were arrested by the North Zone police of Hyderabad in connection with two high-value thefts by domestic servants, recovering gold and silver ornaments worth approximately ₹31 lakh.

In the first case, Uragadda Madhavi, 35, and her husband, Uragadda Krishnaiah, 40 were arrested by the Karkhana police on December 15 following a complaint by Gajawada Sridhar, a 52-year-old jewellery businessman from Bowenpally. He reported that gold ornaments and gold biscuits had gone missing from his house over a period of time.

Investigation revealed that a couple melted a portion of the stolen gold and repurposed it into ornaments for their own use. They confessed to the crimes and led police to the recovery of gold ornaments and melted gold pieces weighing a total of 24.2 tolas. The accused were produced before court and remanded to judicial custody.

In the second, the Bollarum police arrested Jajala Sindhu alias Chinnari, a resident of Kummari Basti, Macha Bollarum, and a native of Medak. The arrest followed a complaint by Yellu Sujatha, 53, a resident of Dovton Road, on December 13, in which she stated hat gold and silver articles kept in her almirah were missing.

Investigation revealed that Sindhu was employed as a servant in the house in July 2025. The police recovered a gold necklace weighing 5.1 tolas, melted gold pieces weighing 2 tolas, and silver articles weighing 61 tolas from the accused.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad City Police have issued a public advisory urging citizens to carefully verify the background of domestic servants before employment, keep valuables securely locked, and report any suspicious activity immediately to Dial-100. The recovery underscores the police’s commitment to protecting public property and maintaining law and order in the city.
