The first-ever Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas celebrations in Jaipur on Wednesday (December 10, 2025) witnessed some major economic announcements and the groundbreaking of investment proposals worth ₹1 lakh crore in Rajasthan.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated the programme, calling upon the Rajasthani diaspora to remain “connected with (their) roots”.

A large number of Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) settled in various States in the country and abroad participated in the event. Mr. Sharma urged the NRRs to play a role in making a “modern and prosperous” Rajasthan. Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Bhupender Yadav and C.R. Patil also attended the programme.

The launch of memorandums of understanding worth ₹1 lakh crore took the total implemented investments from the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ global investment summit, held in December 2024, to ₹8 lakh crore, out of the total signed agreements worth ₹35 lakh crore. Mr. Sharma said Rajasthan, with more than 24 new policies, had emerged as the most preferred State for investment in the country.

Mr. Sharma announced the establishment of 14 new chapters of Rajasthan Foundation, which is the State’s nodal department for diaspora outreach, to strengthen the connection with NRRs. Nine of these chapters will be established abroad and five in various States. Nine distinguished NRRs were also honoured on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said the State had made significant progress in various sectors and addressed the power and water crisis. “Every sector in Rajasthan holds an immense potential, including education, tourism and mining. The State produces 85 different types of minerals,” Mr. Sharma said, while inviting the Rajasthani diaspora to invest across different sectors.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Goyal said the Centre was supporting Rajasthan in the fields of industrial development, tourism, energy and social upliftment. “NRRs have enhanced the State’s reputation and established its true identity through their hard work, struggles and success,” Mr. Goyal said.

A Pravasi Rajasthani policy was unveiled on the occasion to provide a roadmap for facilities and investment opportunities for NRRs living in different parts of the world. The State government has also established a dedicated department for NRRs to provide an effective platform to enhance communication, cooperation, investment and cultural connections.

Different sessions covering industries such as energy, water, mining, education, tourism and health were organised during the event. The distinguished NRRs who held interactions included Vedanta founder Anil Agarwal, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Avaada Group chairman Vineet Mittal, and Piramal Group chairman Ajay Piramal.

Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and Union Minister of State for Agricultural Bhagirath Choudhary were also present.
