Kharge, Rahul, Priyanka likely to visit T.N. in January

In a bid to strengthen their position in alliance negotiations, the Tamil Nadu Congress is bringing in the big guns – Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, All India Congress Committee general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge – to Tamil Nadu where they will address public meetings, participate in public rallies.

Speaking to The Hindu, TNCC president K. Selvaperunthagai said that Mr. Rahul Gandhi and Mr. Kharge would be addressing a meeting of Village Committee members in Tamil Nadu. “Our leaders Rahul Gandhi and Kharge will address more than 2.5 lakh people. The rally would be held either in Tiruchi, Delta region, Chengalpattu or in Kancheepuram. I will be embarking on a padayatra in January and our leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to join me,” he said.

Mr. Selvaperunthagai also said that Ms. Priyanka will participate in a Congress Mahila rally in Tamil Nadu in January. “Two coordination committees have been formed – one for the village committee members rally – comprising K.V. Thangkabalu, S. Thirunavukarasar, M. Krishnasamy, K.S. Alagiri, S. Peter Alphonse and MLA Ruby Manoharan and another for Mahila rally comprising of MPs, S. Jothimani, Sudha Ramakrishnan, K. Rani, Hassena Syed, MLA Tharahai Cuthbert, and Rani Venkatesan,” he said.
