Eleven individuals found consuming ganja were held by the Hyderabad Narcotics Police Station (HNPS) of the EAGLE Force as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics operations.

The apprehended individuals were subjected to on-the-spot testing using drug-detection kits in the presence of their parents. Results confirmed the consumption of ganja. The individuals were counselled in the presence of their parents or guardians and subsequently referred to certified de-addiction and rehabilitation centres for treatment and monitoring.

The apprehended consumers include Azhar, 26; Hari Prasad alias Mintu, 24; Mahesh, 29; Kailashnath, 25; Sravan Kumar, 34; Tejaswi Raj Singh, 36; Azharuddin, 30; Aman, 24; Adnan Ahmed, 21; Sahit, 25; and Sai Kiran, 26, residing primarily in Secunderabad and Hakeempet. Their occupations range from corporate and sales roles to service and business positions.

After completing their de-addiction programmes, the unit will continue to engage with the individuals and their families to provide necessary support. Additional assistance is available through Narco Anonymous, an NGO offering free and confidential help to those struggling with drug addiction.

The officials stressed that Telangana has recently witnessed alarming incidents linked to drug overdose, including fatalities in Chandrayangutta, Balapur and Rajendranagar, underscoring the urgent need for vigilance and timely intervention. Citizens, parents and youth are urged to remain alert, monitor at-risk behaviours and report any suspicious drug-related activity to the EAGLE Force.

Information can be reported confidentially via the toll-free number 1908, WhatsApp at 87126 71111, or email tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in. The EAGLE Force called on the public to unite in the mission to build a drug-free Telangana.
