Atirath Holdings India signed an agreement with Telangana government on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy pertaining to its proposed ₹4,000 crore investment on bio compressed natural gas (CNG) projects in the State.
It intends to establish 25 compressed bio-gas (CBG) plants, each with a 20 tonnes per day (TPD) capacity, in several locations in the State. The projects are expected to create more than 9,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, benefiting youth and farmers alike, Atirath Holdings said in a release after the agreement was formalised during the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the first CBG plant in Telangana will take place in the January in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The entire project is expected to become operational within 15 months.
CBG, also known as bio-CNG, is a renewable and clean fuel derived from organic material through anaerobic digestion and purification, with methane content exceeding 98%, its properties closely resemble conventional CNG, making it an ideal substitute for use in automotive, industrial and commercial applications. The investment underscores Telangana’s growing prominence as a hub for green energy and sustainable development, reinforcing the State’s commitment to clean energy initiatives and environmental responsibility, Chairman of Atirath Holdings Lt. R. Balakrishnan said.
The company had signed an MoU with Andhra Pradesh government to set up 25 CBG plants of 20 TPD capacity with a total investment of ₹4,000 crore.
