The Kencharlahalli police on Sunday arrested a 35-year-old farmer for allegedly pushing his uncle to death during a scuffle over a property dispute at Gurrampalli  village in Chintamani taluk on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as K.L. Narayanaswamy, a farmer. The accused, his nephew Madhusudan, is also a resident of the same village.

According to the police, the two lived as neighbours and had frequent disputes over ancestral property. On Friday night, Madhusudan allegedly created a ruckus outside the house, accusing his uncle’s family of causing problems. When Narayanaswamy stepped out to confront him, an argument broke out. In the ensuing melee, Madhusudan allegedly pushed his uncle.

Narayanaswamy lost his balance and fell against an iron gate, sustaining a severe head injury. He was rushed to a hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Based on preliminary information, the Kencharlahalli police arrested Madhusudan on the charge of murder and further investigation is on.
