More than 150 people, including officials from Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSRTI) in Mysuru and its units across the country and officials from Sericulture Departments of different States, were among the participants of the workshop on Sericulture Extension held at CSRTI in Mysuru on Thursday.

Nihar Ranjan, dean (Forestry), Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), who inaugurated the workshop, emphasised that the outcomes of research must primarily benefit the marginal sericultural farmers, including women. He stressed the importance of communicating technologies in regional languages through print, digital, and social media platforms to ensure meaningful outreach and improve the livelihoods of the stakeholders.

P. Deepa, director of CSRTI, in her address, expressed hope that with rapid advancements in IT and AI tools, it has become essential for extension personnel to adop modern technologies to effectively disseminate innovations across sericulture activities.

The participants included officials from CSRTI units in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, besides officials of the Sericulture Departments of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, besides representatives from various universities and the newly inducted scientists of Central Silk Board (CSB), said a statement issued by the organisers.
