The Ideal Fine Art Institute organised the birth anniversary celebration of renowned artist V.G. Andani along with the 2025 Drushya Bhushana Award distribution ceremony at the Matoshree Neelaganga Andani Art Gallery here recently.

Inaugurating the programme, the former Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Janapada University D.B. Naik said that society always remembers those who work selflessly for the welfare of people and such individuals become immortal in people’s hearts.

Citing examples, he said, “Many kings and emperors have faded into history, but personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, who dedicated their lives to the service of humanity, continue to inspire generations. Only those with such noble character can create history.”

Mr. Naik emphasised that art is a divine pursuit and requires both inner inspiration and dedication. Just as economic progress is essential for a nation, cultural growth is equally important, he said.

“As cultural wealth flourishes, it paves the way for social transformation,” he added.

“Art,” he noted, “is as essential to human life as food and water. The ancient cave paintings continue to stand as testimony to the rich traditions of early civilisations.”

Praising V.G. Andani’s contribution to the cultural sphere of Kalaburagi, Mr. Naik said that the city’s artistic landscape has grown significantly due to his tireless efforts.

“He identified and encouraged numerous artists in this region, helping them gain recognition,” he remarked.

This year’s Drushya Bhushana Award was presented to artist Chandrakanth V.H. Jalihal and Bengaluru-based artist Devaraj B.

Kannada Nadu Lekhakara Sahakara Sangha president Apparao Akkoni was the chief guest at the event, while senior artist V.G. Andani presided over the function.

Ideal Fine Art Institute president Kalavati and Gautam Andani were present.
