Red alert has been issued for Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Chengalpattu and Puducherry, in view of the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall.

On account of the heavy rain forecast, a holiday has been declared for all schools in Tiruchi district. Schools are advised not to have any special classes, said Collector V. Saravanan.

Holiday has been declared for schools in Thanjavur and Ariyalur districts and schools and colleges in Perambalur and Pudukottai districts.
