NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha and Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu instructed officials to complete all arrangements swiftly to ensure the smooth conduct of ‘Bhavani Deeksha Viramana’ programme, to be held from December 11 to 15, in Vijayawada.
Mr. Lakshmisha and Mr. Rajasekhar Babu, along with Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M., Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik and others, visited the temple and inspected the arrangements on Thursday.
More than six lakh Bhavani devotees are expected to visit this year, the Collector said, adding that around one lakh devotees may visit the temple for darshan every day. Thirty six officers have been assigned the task of supervising 36 different areas, including hair-offering points, bathing ghats, queue lines, laddu counters and others.
Information centres should provide continuous announcements for devotees coming from other regions, the Collector said. The number of laddu sales counters and free meal centres will be increased considering the increase in devotee turnout this time, he added.
Temporary toilets will be arranged and special staff will be deployed at bathing ghats to continuously collect the clothes that devotees leave behind, the Collector said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rajashekar Babu said that nearly 3,000 police personnel will be deployed, and tight security arrangements will be made.
More than 300 CCTV cameras will be installed in the city, and drone cameras will monitor key locations through the command control room to respond immediately to any problem, the Police Commissioner said. A special app will be used to issue tokens and sell laddus in advance to prevent crowding at counters.
Mr. Seena Naik said special arrangements will be made for ‘giri pradakshina’ and the procession of the deity, with the cooperation of the police department. The number of cloakrooms has been increased for devotees’ convenience and laddu sales will be conducted through 14 counters, he said. A team of 850 barbers will run the hair-offering centre. Twenty lakh laddus will be made this year, Mr. Seena Naik added.
