Founder of the TIPRA Motha, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, on Sunday (November 23, 2025) alleged that one of the Ministers in the Tripura government is inciting violence “with the intention of creating a rift between his party and the BJP.”

He said the Minister is also “taking money from a vested quarter to divide the indigenous people”.

Mr. Debbarman did not name the Minister, but warned that if the situation persists he will be compelled to expose him. He also gave hints that the Minister is from the BJP and is also from the indigenous community.

“If you have any feelings for the community, work for Thansa (unity) among them. Fight sectarian groups who are targeting our community,” he said during his visit to a place in west Tripura which recently saw clashes between BJP and Tipra Motha supporters leading to ransacking of houses, vandalizing party offices and damaging vehicles.

He said he had telephonic talks with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, whom he termed a “gentleman” during the recent violence in various places. Dr. Saha also visited one of the affected places on Friday (November 21, 2025).

TIPRA Motha founder said the party’s upcoming mass rally in Agartala on November 27 will be a rallying point to speed up the process of political parties in northeast India to raise a unified voice. Leaders from the regional parties from the northeastern states, including Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, will be in attendance.
