Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Telangana government’s Young India Integrated Residential Schools’ initiative is a landmark step towards providing high quality education with international standards to foster holistic development of students.

He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stones for the Young India International School and 33/11 KV sub-station and other development works worth ₹400 crore in Wyra town of Khammam district on Saturday.

He said that a spacious integrated residential school building is being constructed in Wyra constituency with an investment of ₹200 crore on 20 acres as part of this pioneering initiative.

Referring to the Telangana government’s major initiative rooted in the egalitarian concept, he said education is key to bring social change and overall progress. The government’s goal is to establish at least one Young India Integrated School in every Assembly constituency in the State.

For the construction of this school, ₹30 crore has already been deposited in the District Collector’s account and funds will be released every fortnight, he noted.

He said the previous BRS government ‘mismanaged’ residential schools where students suffered due to inadequate diet and even cosmetic charges.

Upon coming to power, the Congress government raised diet charges by 40% for each student and enhanced the cosmetic charges by 200% benefiting the students of the State-run residential school and welfare hostels, he added.

He listed out various development and welfare schemes of the Congress government, including the latest initiative to distribute high-quality saris to around one crore women in the State.

Later, the Deputy Chief Minister performed bhoomi puja for the compound wall and ground levelling works for the Indira Mahila Dairy in Bonakal.
