Demand is rife for political merchandise, including T-shirts and caps, having the pictures of leaders and party symbols as the campaigning for local body polls shifts to the top gear. Printers and traders are cashing in on the poll fever in Kochi by undertaking orders given by various political parties. Traders have also kept the campaign materials on sale in areas including the Broadway. A T-shirt with the photo of leaders or the candidate is being sold in the range of ₹100 to ₹200. Caps, which are in high demand, are being sold in the range of ₹15 to ₹25. Shop owners said that the demand for flags of varying sizes has also shot up over the last one week. They hope that the orders may go up as the key fronts are pulling out all the stops to woo the attention of the voters.
