Students of the National Cadet Corps at Seshadri Rao Gudlavalleru Engineering College organised an anti-drug awareness rally on Saturday to mark NCC Foundation Day, observed on the fourth Sunday of November each year. The event was held as per the directions of the 16(A) Battalion NCC, Machilipatnam. College Principal B. Karuna Kumar, who flagged off the rally, voiced concern over the expanding global narcotics trade, saying it primarily targets youth and drains their potential under the influence of drugs. He cautioned that drug consumption is a serious crime carrying strict legal penalties.

The rally began at the college’s main gate and moved towards Gudlavalleru Centre. Under the supervision of NCC caretaker and Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering M. Karamchand, along with Assistant Directors of Physical Education M. Shiva Shankar and P. Poojitha, and with support from local police, students marched raising slogans such as ‘Cigarettes, steps towards hell’, ‘Gutka, a shortcut to ruin’, ‘Ganja intoxication destroys life’, and ‘Say no to drugs, our life is precious’.

At Gudlavalleru Centre, the students formed a human chain, symbolising unity and a resolve to work for nation-building and a brighter future for youth. College Director P. Siddhaya, Management Advisor P. Ravindra Babu, Vice-Principals P. Kodanda Rama Rao and M. R. C. H. Shastry, heads of departments, faculty, staff and a large number of students took part in the programme.
