Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy with representatives of the ‘Save Banyan Trees’ organisation.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy felicitated representatives of the “Save Banyan Trees” organisation, acknowledging their decision to withdraw the court case concerning the protection of banyan trees along the Hyderabad–Bijapur National Highway.
The representatives met the Chief Minister with the initiative of Parigi MLA and District Congress Committee President T. Rammohan Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister noted that the withdrawal of the case would pave the way for uninterrupted progress of the highway development works. He specially commended Mr. Rammohan Reddy for his sustained efforts and active role in resolving issues and ensuring smooth advancement of the project.
Mr Rammohan Reddy said that the delay in the execution of road widening had led to several accidents on the Chevella stretch of the highway. The case was filed in the National Green Tribunal but after his sustained efforts to convince them on the need to expand the road, and with the promise that the trees would also be saved and transplanted, the case was withdrawn.
Government Chief Whip in the Legislative Council, Patnam Mahender Reddy, and Tandur MLA Manohar Reddy were also present.
