Officials of the Karnataka Lokayukta arrested a First Division Assistant (FDA) attached to the office of the Block Education Officer (BEO) in Sedam in Kalaburagi district for allegedly taking bribe from a complainant.

According to the information shared by Siddaraju, Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta), the accused, Shivalingappa, had allegedly demanded ₹28,500 from complainant Afridi, a resident of Mohalla Maidan in Yadgir city, for processing the post-retirement pension benefits of his mother, Razak Begum.

Afridi approached the Lokayukta police and lodged a complaint. A team led by Arunkumar Muragundi, Police Inspector, Lokayukta caught the accused when he allegedly received ₹25,000 through UPI.

Lokayukta officials confirmed that a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused will be produced before the jurisdictional court and remanded to judicial custody, they added.
