Former Health Minister Vidadala Rajini in a post on social media platform accused the State government saying it is a “clear and unforgivable act of negligence,” after Paderu Medical College lost the opportunity to secure additional seats for the academic year 2025–26.
She wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on November 19, Wednesday: “(Chief Minister N. Chandrababu) Naidu’s government owes answers. This was not a routine slip but a shocking administrative collapse that directly harmed tribal youth. Even after the college met all NMC requirements, officials mishandled basic procedures, sent crucial documents to the wrong department, and destroyed a rare opportunity for students in one of the State’s most backward regions.”
It may be noted that Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav had on November 18, directed officials to issue show-cause notices to officials responsible for such negligence.
Though the college met all the National Medical Commission (NMC) regulations, in the areas of infrastructure, faculty and staff, the college, which has 100 seats at present, lost the opportunity for additional seats due to mistakes, Minister Staya Kumar Yadav noted.
According to information from the health department, the Paderu Medical College principal had applied to the NMC seeking approval for 50 additional seats for the academic year 2025–26. The NMC had reportedly asked for the Consent of Affiliation from the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and video recordings related to the functioning and management of the college. However, according to the health department, the documents were reportedly sent to another section instead to the NMC’s designated office, which reportedly led to the NMC disapproving the request.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav expressed his ire at the blunder and directed officials to take immediate action against those responsibile.
