The Telangana government on Tuesday repatriated Mohammad Safiullah to TGGenco on administrative grounds. Mr. Safiullah was appointed as Director of Urdu Academy and In-charge Executive Officer of Telangana Haj Committee recently. The decision of the government is reportedly linked to a viral video of the official talking insensitively to the relatives of the victims of Haj tragedy in which 45 persons were killed on Monday. “Jale huwe tukdon ko kya dekhte? (Why do you need to go and see the charred remains and pieces),” the officer is heard saying in the short clip. Mr Safiullah later apologised but the damage was already done. Mohammad Asadullah, Survey Commissioner of Waqf has been posted as the in-charge Executive Officer of Telangana Haj Committee and as Director of Telangana Urdu Academy to look after the day-to-day affairs of the two institutions, according to the GO.
