The Income Tax Department on Tuesday (November 18, 2025) launched raids at 15 locations linked to three of Hyderabad’s well-known restaurant chains specialising in biryani on suspicion of large-scale tax evasion.

Searches began early in the morning, with nearly 30 teams deployed across multiple premises of Pista House, Shah Ghouse and Mehfil Group of Restaurants. The operation covered their outlets, corporate offices, as well as the residences of owners and key management personnel.

The restaurant chains, which have an extensive presence both across Hyderabad and in other countries, came under scrutiny for allegedly concealing financial information.

Officials are examining branch-wise transactions, financial records and other key documents as part of the investigation. Further details are awaited from the department as the searches continue.
