BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Sunday alleged the DMK government in Tamil Nadu failed to retain investments and allowed them to slip out of the State.

In a statement, Mr. Nagenthran said a South Korean company, which had planned to invest ₹1,720 crore, in Tamil Nadu had reportedly decided to move its investment to Andhra Pradesh instead.

He said Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who had often said he would not let Tamil Nadu bow its head, should recognise that the State government’s “inefficiency” had resulted in the loss of 20,000 direct employment opportunities that were intended for the State’s youth.

He alleged that it had become routine for the State government to announce that investments were coming into Tamil Nadu even as reports surfaced that projects were moving to neighbouring States. The Chief Minister returned from his foreign trips without having secured fresh investments, he claimed, adding that the government was letting go of investments that could have been retained and was harming the State’s future.
